About this game FreeCell Mania
Development notes
No unsolvable numbers, no gaps
Numbers the solver proves unsolvable, or can't decide within its budget, get a new layout from a salted seed instead of being left as holes: Baker's Game needed this for 1,251 of its 5,000 numbers and Golf for 2,778. A number that already has records is never re-dealt, because those records would then describe a board that no longer exists.
Stack moves are played out card by card
A multi-card move is shorthand for single-card moves through free cells and empty columns, which is where the limit comes from. At Slow and Normal speed you watch those steps, and the sound rises a semitone per card. Slow was once the default, but a move could take over two seconds with input blocked, so play now starts on Normal at 150 ms a card.
Auto-play has no off switch
Only safe cards go up by themselves: aces and twos always, other cards once both suits of the opposite colour are one rank below. Those moves count toward everyone's move total, so a toggle would mix two kinds of move count on one ranking. The same reasoning kept draw-three out of Solitaire.
Why TriPeaks shows every card
The solver sees every card, so hidden peak rows would let a deal it called solvable be lost to luck; here all 28 are face up and only the stock order is unknown. Undo can't take back a draw, which would amount to peeking at the next card, but it can return the card you just cleared, once per deal.
